This year's search for the Face of Cebu 2021 may be over, but such isn't the case for its winners. Ten fresh faces who now serve as ambassadors of Cebu sat down with the press yesterday in an exclusive conference held at the Michaelangelo Pizzeria.
The Face of Cebu 2021 winners for female category are Jamie Armada (Grand Winner), Cassandra Faith Belcina (1st Runner Up), Keena Shanelle Allison Sularte (2nd Runner Up), Christine Kate Lavajo (3rd runner up), and Mecie Obedencio (4th runner up). For the male category, Kherman Alpasa took the grand title followed by Van Ashley Aguilar (1st runner up), Ryle Casili (2nd runner up), Mckenzie Saavedra (3rd runner up), and Patrick Menchavez Page (4th runner up).
From questions pertaining to social issues, to their personal aspirations, the ten young winners eloquently and gracefully answered the questions thrown by the press. All belonging to Generation Z, the teens collectively consider the competition as an important stepping stone to help them achieve their goals, and to positively influence the youth. They've also emphasized the role of their newly-gathered titles in highlighting their individual advocacies.
The teen model search had its grand coronation night last March 20 at the Golden Peak Hotel & Suites. The big moment was supposed to happen last December, but was postponed due to Typhoon Odette. When asked how they kept the momentum going, Face of Cebu 2021 Jamie Armada and 3rd runner up Christine Kate Lavajo took the time to focus on their academic roles, and to improve their runway skills.
Chinita beauty 4th runner up Mecie Obedencio admittingly said to have lost the momentum for a while, but managed to look at the positive side brought by the calamity. Similarly, Face of Cebu 2021 Grand Winner Jamie Armada expressed her admiration on the Cebuanos' resilience and optimism. Armada hopes that the calamity will serve as a way for Cebuanos to be united particularly in being environmentally proactive and to practice calamity preparedness.
The teen winners also took the opportunity to thank the creative brain behind Face of Cebu Mr. Danny Booc. Face of Cebu 2021 winner Kherman Alpasa thanked Sir Danny for helping him gain his confidence and improve his communication skills. Alpasa shared that prior to the competition, he identified himself as a shy and soft-spoken person. The competition paved way for him to open up to express himself and to gain new friends. Aspiring runway model Van Ashley Aguilar thanked Mr. Booc for encouraging him to do more, to improve, and for appreciating his skills.
Face of Cebu is a teen model competition which seeks to provide the Generation Z a platform to express themselves, and showcase their talents. One of its goals is to help the young models gain wholesome exposure to the entertainment and modelling industry.
Catering to the ever changing role of pageantry, Face of Cebu welcomes all participants of various beauty, sizes, and gender. While Q and A isn't part of the competition, it banks on 3 different categories namely, the Production Number, Fun Wear, and Formal Wear.
Ozar Model Philippines Founder, and Face of Cebu head organizer expressed his admiration for this year's batch noting that the teenagers are all well-versed, talented, and willing to learn. "I am running a non-profit organisation purely fueled by passion. I consider these young teens as my trophies," Booc shared.
While adequate rest is part of what the winners look forward to, all of them are willing to further improve what they have learned from Face of Cebu and are open to modelling and pageantry opportunities. Clearly, the bright faces of Face of Cebu 2021 is ready for the future.
